Trying to strike gold on the mountainside has been re-shaping the Cretan landscape for the last few decades.

  2. I'm not used to seeing those trees in neat rows and without underbrush. It looks so unnatural.

    Such a big drop in prices for the oil?

    Good luck with your heatwave. It is due to reach us in a day or two. Here even the water at our Mediterranean beaches is at 30 degrees.

  3. what you are seeing in my photo today is a mountainside that had never been cultivated by olive trees before, and now, with the facilities available, it's easier to do this, so the whole mountain has been carved up and planted with trees, by people hoping to strike gold by high olive oil prices (it dropped from 6 euro to 1.5 a litre of freshly produced oil this year.
